Jean Strouse

Jean Strouse is the award-winning author of Morgan: American Financier and Alice James: A Biography, which won the Bancroft Prize in American History and Diplomacy. She is a sought-after keynote speaker at banks, investment firms, universities, business schools, art museums, historical societies, and libraries, lecturing on all aspects of J. Pierpont Morgan, including his art collecting and the 19th century formation of America's financial and industrial institutions. Her clients include the Chilton Group, J.P. Morgan & Company (New York and London), The New York University Leonard Stern School of Business Global Alumni Conference, The Manhattan Institute, and The Gilder Lehrman Institute for American History.

Strouse has appeared frequently on television and in documentary films about late 19th century America and has written for The New Yorker, The New York Review of Books, The New York Times, Newsweek, Architectural Digest, and Slate. She has been president of the Society of American Historians, a consultant (oral historian) to the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and a Fellow of the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and the American Philosophical Society, she is currently the Sue Ann and John Weinberg Director of the Dorothy and Lewis B.
