James J. Allegro Biography
Dr. James J. Allegro is an assistant professor of American History with a specialty in Colonial and Revolutionary America to 1789. He received his Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University. He teaches a range of introductory and upper-level courses on American and African-American history before the Civil War, including United States History I, African-American History I, the Age of Encounter, and Colonial America. His research interests include the intellectual history of British North America, European overseas exploration, and colonial race relations. He is presently working on a book manuscript entitled, "Passage to America: East and West in the Age of British Overseas Expansion, 1400-1600." A native Bostonian, Dr. Allegro enjoys horror films, baseball, and travel.
