Helen Osborne Biography
Helen is founder and president of Health Literacy Consulting based in Natick, MA. She also is the founder of Health Literacy Month, a global campaign to raise awareness about the importance of understandable health information.Helen Osborne helps all health professionals communicate in ways that patients, families, and caregivers can truly understand.
In addition to speaking about health literacy, Helen also serves as a plain language writer, editor, and consultant. She writes about health communication, as well. Her latest publication is the "Health Literacy Handbook: An Event Planning Guide for Health Literacy Advocates." Helen is the author of several other books including the award-winning "Health Literacy from A to Z: Practical Ways to Communicate Your Health Message" published by Jones & Bartlett in 2004. She also is a columnist for the Boston Globe's "On Call" magazine, focusing on patient education and healthcare communication.
Helen earned a Bachelors degree in occupational therapy from Tufts University and a Masters degree in education from Boston University
