Dru C. Bookout Biography
I am an educator in Dallas, Texas who knows that laughing and learning go hand in hand! I have a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Arts degree from The University of North Texas. Both degrees are in the field of communication. I love connecting with audiences and experiencing the magic of learning. I was recently honored by my Richland College colleagues and students with the Excellence in Teaching Award.
Besides teaching classes in speech communication, I also co-direct the Richland College Work Like Your Dog Institute. Our mission is to make work and workers more joyful, playful and productive. Check out our newsletter, Bow-Wow! for wisdom of the working dog.
As a wife and mother, I have learned valuable communication skills not taught in the classroom. I am a "sandwich generation" survivor having shared my home with my mother, mother-in-law and father-in-law. My husband of 31 years and I have two children, both college graduates. I know how to balance work, family, PTA and Dallas traffic. And, I was once in an all-accordion band! My sense of humor gets exercised regularly. I share my expertise in entertaining as well as informative presentations that always engage the audience and tickle the funny bone.
