Dr. Hippolyte L. Fofack

Dr. Hippolyte Fofack is a World Bank professional and research economist, with over twenty years of international experience. He is currently Senior Economist and Cluster Leader for Knowledge and Learning in the World Bank PREM Anchor. Previously, he was responsible for the Macroeconomic and Growth Program at the World Bank Institute, the knowledge and capacity building arm of the World Bank Group; he also served as Senior Country Economist for the Great Lakes Region of Africa and Research Economist with the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Network. He has taught and delivered lectures at various institutions around the world, including, American University, Berea College, Brandeis University, Ohio State University, Yale University, the Third World Academy of Sciences, the African Academy of Sciences and the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences.

Dr. Fofack has published extensively and is a member of some leading professional and scientific organizations, including the American Economic Association, the African Finance and Economic Association and the American Mathematical Society. He is also a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences and Associate Editor of the Journal of African Development. He is a recipient of the World Bank’s President Award for Excellence. Dr. Fofack is also the Founder of the Nelson Mandela Institution for Knowledge Building and the Advancement of Science and Technology in Sub-Saharan Africa, a ground-breaking initiative that seeks to enhance the development of Africa through the promotion of excellence in science and engineering.

Dr. Fofack holds an Advanced Degree in International Economics and Finance from the University of Bordeaux, France and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Economics from American University, Washington, DC. More recently, he was awarded a certificate of completion for the Cutting Edge of Development Thinking program, Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Executive Education.
