Dina D. Pomeranz

Dina Pomeranz is an assistant professor in the Entrepreneurial Management Unit, where she teaches the Entrepreneurial Manager course in the MBA required curriculum. She completed her Ph.D. in economics at Harvard University, and her undergraduate degree in international relations at the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva. Prior to joining HBS, she served as a postdoctoral fellow at MIT’s Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab.

Professor Pomeranz’s research focuses on public policies towards firms and entrepreneurs in emerging markets. In particular, she has conducted large-scale, randomized field experiments about tax evasion by firms and about determinants and impacts of formal savings for low-income microentrepreneurs. Her current work focuses on taxation and regulation in the developing world. She is a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER), a faculty affiliate at the Center for International Development (CID), and a member of the State Capabilities Programme at the International Growth Centre (IGC).

Besides her academic interests, Dina Pomeranz has been active in a variety of organizations, including as a consultant to the Chilean Tax Authority and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs. She has written on economic topics in the leading Swiss newspapers Neue Zürcher Zeitung and Tages Anzeiger, has co-founded the network Swiss Economists Abroad, and serves as vice president of evaluations and strategy at TAMTAM-Together Against Malaria.
