David Bray
David Bray Biography
David Barton Bray is Professor and former Chair in the Department of Earth & Environment at Florida International University. He is widely published in academic and popular sources, including the New York Times and Miami Herald, on community forest management in Mexico, and beyond and is the lead editor of The Community Forests of Mexico: Managing for Sustainable Landscapes (University of Texas Press, 2005). He has received research funding from the Ford, Hewlett, and Tinker Foundations and the US Agency for International Development, and has consulted for the MacArthur and Ford Foundations, the US Fish and Wildlife Service, Rainforest Alliance and Mexico’s National Forest Commission among others. He is also an advisor to several Mexican community forestry organizations. He has given talks on his research at the World Bank in Washington, DC and Mexico City and to high ranking forestry officials in Beijing, China. He worked for the Inter-American Foundation in Arlington, VA from 1986-1997, has taught at Tufts and Tulane University, and holds a Ph.D. and Master's degree in Anthropology from Brown University
