Christopher Nicholas Biography
Chris Nicholas is the co-founder and president of Asymmetrica Labs, a micro-typography startup.
A neuroscientist by training, he specializes in making text easier to read. He uses data science and reading science to develop technology that improves the micro UX of text – in real time. His easily-installed software unobtrusively adjusts the word spacing of text at scale across entire websites and other documents. This enhanced formatting improves reading comprehension, lifts conversion rates, and increases user engagement.
Chris’ expertise is in typography and document design. As the former CTO of ReadSmart (LTI), he was an early pioneer in mobile ebook publishing technology and he is a co-inventor of several patents on fixed-layout ebooks and other typesetting technology. He obtained his PhD in neuroscience from the University of Arizona studying word and letter perception. He has a BS in biology and a BS in psychology from the University of Illinois.
