Beth Jinks

Beth Jinks covers restructuring and distressed transactions at Bloomberg News. Her articles appear daily on Bloomberg’s terminals, website, and inside its Businessweek and monthly Markets magazines. She is a commentator on Bloomberg Television and Radio, and her stories are published in newspapers globally. With expertise in debt and equity markets, distressed assets, workouts and bankruptcies, Beth has previously covered technology, private equity, and helmed Bloomberg’s gaming and leisure coverage, chronicling the casino industry’s restructuring after the boom ended in mid-2008. Beth joined Bloomberg News in Singapore in 2004, covering Southeast Asian companies, currencies and governments, focusing on state-linked enterprises and sovereign wealth funds. She oversaw Indochina news for three years as Bloomberg’s Bangkok Bureau Chief, coordinating coverage including the 2004 tsunami, Thailand’s military coup, stock market crash, and capital controls. Prior to Bloomberg, Beth was the transport correspondent for The Business Times, covering the shipping and aviation industries for Singapore’s daily financial newspaper. A native of Australia, Beth has a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of South Australia and began her career at newspapers on Australia’s west coast. She now lives in New York City.
