Paul Bettany

Paul Bettany is an English actor whose career spans stage, screen, and television. Bettany trained at Drama Centre London, an institution recognized for its method-focused approach, before performing in stage productions such as Stephen Daldry's West End revival of "An Inspector Calls" and Royal Shakespeare Company productions of "Richard III," "Romeo and Juliet," and "Julius Caesar."

Bettany gained mainstream attention with film roles including Geoffrey Chaucer in "A Knight's Tale," a performance that earned him the London Film Critics Circle Award for Best British Supporting Actor, and a supporting role in the Academy Award-winning "A Beautiful Mind." His portrayal of surgeon and naturalist Stephen Maturin in "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" brought him a BAFTA nomination, recognition as British Actor of the Year by the London Film Critics' Circle, and Best Actor by the Evening Standard.
