Jeremy Irons

Jeremy Irons is a British actor known for his work across stage, film, and television. His career includes recognition with an Academy Award, a Tony Award, three Primetime Emmy Awards, and two Golden Globe Awards, making him one of a select group of actors to achieve the Triple Crown of Acting. Irons is recognized for his distinctive speaking voice and his performances in a wide range of dramatic roles.

Irons received classical training at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and began his acting career on stage. He appeared in numerous West End productions, including Shakespeare plays such as "The Winter's Tale," "Macbeth," "Much Ado About Nothing," "The Taming of the Shrew," and "Richard II." He made his Broadway debut in Tom Stoppard's "The Real Thing," earning the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play. His first major film role was in "The French Lieutenant's Woman," which earned him a BAFTA nomination for Best Actor. On television, Irons gained attention for his role in the ITV series "Brideshead Revisited."

Irons starred in dramas including "Moonlighting," "Betrayal," and "The Mission," and received critical acclaim for his dual role in David Cronenberg's psychological thriller "Dead Ringers." He won the Academy Award for Best Actor and the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his portrayal of Claus von Bülow in "Reversal of Fortune." Irons's subsequent film credits include "Damage," "M. Butterfly," and voicing Scar in Disney's "The Lion King." He also appeared in the action film "Die Hard: With a Vengeance" and portrayed Humbert Humbert in Adrian Lyne's "Lolita."

Irons received a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his role in the miniseries "Elizabeth I." He starred as Pope Alexander VI in the Showtime historical series The Borgias and as Adrian Veidt / Ozymandias in HBO's "Watchmen." His film work includes roles in "Being Julia," "Kingdom of Heaven," "Appaloosa," "Margin Call," "The Words," "Race," "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," and "Justice League." Irons also portrayed Neville Chamberlain in "Munich: The Edge of War" and appeared in "House of Gucci."

He reprised the role of Alfred Pennyworth in "The Flash" and returned to voice Scar in Disney's animated short "Once Upon a Studio." Irons performed Scar's song at the Hollywood Bowl's "The Lion King" 30th Anniversary – A Live-to-Film Concert Event. His television work includes a role in the Apple TV+ drama series "The Morning Show," where he portrayed Alex Levy's father. Irons has also been involved in humanitarian efforts as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.
