Lauren Coyle Rosen is a renowned public intellectual and a highly acclaimed speaker, writer, singer-songwriter, and artist. An award-winning, Pulitzer Prize-nominated author, she is a thought leader in the areas of art, culture, spirituality, mindfulness, and creative innovation.
Coyle Rosen has published twelve celebrated books to date, four nonfiction and eight volumes of poetry and art. She is currently at work on a new book called "Goddess: A History". This wide-ranging work tells the story of the cultural history of iconic goddess figures throughout the world, including their erasures or sidelining. She is now delivering talks on the lost stories of the goddesses, and what we may gain today by remembering them as role models for popular culture.
She has collaborated with high-profile musicians, spiritualists, artists, and thought leaders for her works. Most recently, she coauthored a book with folk-rock star and feminist icon Ani DiFranco, on the musician’s art, spirituality, and life. Coyle Rosen also recently coauthored a book with the jazz legend and leading orchestral composer Hannibal Lokumbe, exploring his life, music, spirituality, and liberation work. This book was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, National Book Award, and National Book Critics Circle Award, among other awards.
Throughout her career, Coyle Rosen has received numerous national and international awards for her research, writing, and creative work. In 2025, she released her first four acclaimed music albums: Purify Flame Dreamscape, Covers and Veils in Blue, Apollonian Tonic, and Athena Visions. Her work can be found on all major streaming platforms. She also founded and writes for an online magazine, The Spiritual Muses, which explores the creative and spiritual inspiration of cultural figures from all times and places.
Coyle Rosen holds a PhD in cultural anthropology from The University of Chicago and a JD with honors from Harvard Law School. She is a fellow at Harvard University and was a cultural anthropology professor at Princeton University, where she received the President’s Award in Distinguished Teaching, among other honors. She lives in Philadelphia and Washington, DC, with her husband, Jeffrey Rosen, the bestselling author, professor, and President & CEO of the National Constitution Center.
