Gisel Ruiz

Gisel Ruiz is a globally-minded executive who served extensively in C-suite level capacities for Fortune 1 company, Walmart Inc. During her 26-year career, she led teams through digital and multi-channel transformation, large scale growth and innovative, tech enabled consumer experience improvements. She has a proven track record in full P&L ownership and leveraging technology, data and consumer insights to drive business results.

Gisel is accomplished in working with CEOs, the Walmart Board, and with the investor community. She's an authentic leader and a poised disruptor, known for her sound judgment and situational fluency in fast evolving, complex businesses.

Ruiz is the former Executive Vice President, Chief Operations Officer Sam’s Club, the wholesale membership business segment of Fortune 1 company, Walmart, Inc. She began her career at Walmart as an Assistant Manager Trainee. In the span of her nearly 27-year career at Walmart, she ascended through ranks where she held top executive roles including Chief Operating Officer Walmart US and Executive Vice President, People serving Walmart International.

She is a member of the Board of Directors at Cracker Barrel Old Country Store, Inc. where she serves on the Audit Committee and the Nominating and Governance Committee. Ruiz also serves on the Board of Directors at Ulta Beauty where she currently serves on the Compensation Committee. She serves the Nominating and Governance Committee and is the Chairperson of the Compensation Committee at Vital Farms. She also holds board director roles at two private companies and is a member of the Board of Trustees and the Retail Management Institute Advisory Board at Santa Clara University, her alma mater.

In addition to her public and private board service, she consults with select consumer companies in all areas of business including operations, human capital strategy, diversity & inclusion and digital transformation. Ruiz is a member of the Latino Corporate Directors Association and NACD.
