Dave Anthony Biography

Dave Anthony is a video game writer, director, and producer recognized for creating the "Call of Duty: Black Ops" franchise. Born in Liverpool, England, Anthony earned a first-class Bachelor of Science honors degree in computer science from Lancaster University, with a focus on artificial intelligence and natural language processing. He began programming at an early age and founded his own video game company in England at 19, releasing a war game for the Commodore Amiga. Anthony later relocated to Los Angeles to produce "Call of Duty" for Sony PlayStation and Microsoft Xbox.

Anthony wrote and directed "Call of Duty: Black Ops," which achieved global commercial success and was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for its video game story ending. He also wrote and directed the sequel, "Call of Duty: Black Ops II," which grossed $1 billion in 15 days, setting a record for the fastest billion-dollar gross in entertainment history. The Black Ops franchise became one of the best-selling video game franchises, selling more than 100 million copies and generating over $10 billion in revenue.

As director, Anthony managed creative and production teams of more than 200 people over two years, overseeing all aspects of game development. He established Prisoner Six Productions, a Los Angeles-based production company developing television and movie projects, collaborating with senior military experts, veterans, and directing actors including Ed Harris, Gary Oldman, Sam Worthington, Kiefer Sutherland, Evangeline Lilly, Jimmy Kimmel, and Michael Keaton.

Beyond video games, Anthony served as a senior fellow in the Forward Defense initiative at the Atlantic Council's Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security, focusing on the future of conflict, warfare, and the defense and security implications of global trends. He contributed to the "Art of Future Warfare" project, leveraging narrative fiction and interactive media to provide insights into the future of conflict. Anthony also founded Deviation Games, a video game development studio dedicated to creating new franchises. His career spans game development, Hollywood production, and national security think tanks, providing expertise in creativity, leadership, and the intersection of storytelling and strategy.
