Mark Zuckerberg

Mark Zuckerberg is an American technology entrepreneur and philanthropist, best known as the co-founder (along with Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes) of Meta Platforms, formerly Facebook. Zuckerberg serves as the CEO of Meta Platforms. While still in high school, he created several software programs, including a music player called Synapse, which drew attention from major tech companies.

In 2004, while studying psychology and computer science at Harvard University, Zuckerberg launched Facebook from his dorm room along with Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. Initially designed as a social networking site for Harvard students, Facebook quickly expanded to other universities and eventually to the public, becoming a global platform that transformed how people connect online.

Under Zuckerberg's leadership, Facebook grew into one of the world’s largest tech companies, acquiring major platforms such as Instagram and WhatsApp. In 2021, the company rebranded to Meta Platforms, reflecting its broader focus on building the metaverse—a shared virtual environment blending digital and physical realities.

Despite facing significant scrutiny over privacy, misinformation, censorship, internal fact-checking, and ethical concerns related to social media, Zuckerberg has remained a central figure in the tech industry. In addition to his business ventures, he and his wife, Priscilla Chan, launched the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative in 2015, pledging billions toward education, science, and social reform.

Zuckerberg’s impact on global communication and digital culture is undeniable, positioning him as one of the most influential and controversial figures of the 21st century.
