For over thirty years, Marc Maron has been writing and performing comedy for print, stage, radio, online, and television. With his landmark podcast, "WTF with Marc Maron," which began its run in 2009 and achieved over 600 million downloads, he’s interviewed icons such as Robin Williams, Keith Richards, Nicole Kidman, Sir Paul McCartney, and former U.S. President Barack Obama. This podcast was selected by the Library of Congress for preservation in the US National Recording Registry and led Maron to be the recipient of the first-ever Governors Award by the Podcast Academy for Excellence in Audio (The Ambies).
Maron starred in the Netflix series “Glow” from 2017 to 2019, garnering multiple award nominations. His scripted series, "Maron," where he also served as an executive producer and occasional writer, aired for four seasons on IFC from 2013 to 2016. He’s had roles in the films "Joker," "Spencer Confidential," "Sword of Trust," "Stardust," "To Leslie," and the 2021 Aretha Franklin biopic "Respect," alongside Jennifer Hudson, and DreamWorks animated feature "The Bad Guys" co-starring Sam Rockwell. Maron garnered praise for his acting, receiving the Best Actor award at the Gijón International Film Festival in 2019 for "Sword of Trust."
Maron has an extensive line of stand-up specials. His specials include “More Later” (2015), “Thinky Pain” (2013), “Too Real” (2017), and 2020’s “End Times Fun," which was nominated for a 2021 Critics’ Choice Award for 'Best Comedy Special'. His 2023 special "From Bleak to Dark" was named New York magazine's "No. 1 Best Comedy Special of 2023." Beyond his work in comedy, Maron demonstrated his musical talent by performing a guitar solo on the charity single "Party at the NSA" by Yacht in 2013 and contributing to the score for the film "Sword of Trust." Maron is the author of "The Jerusalem Syndrome: My Life as a Reluctant Messiah and Attempting Normal."
Maron announced in 2025 that "WTF with Marc Maron" would end its successful 16-year run in the fall. Despite this, his career continues to thrive as he recently joined the cast of the Apple TV+ golf comedy series "Stick" alongside Owen Wilson and played the role of landlord Gideon Perlman in the Amazon web series "The Horror of Dolores Roach."
