Lonestar Biography
Lonestar is a country music band formed in 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee. The original lineup consisted of Richie McDonald (lead vocals), Michael Britt (lead guitar), Dean Sams (keyboards), Keech Rainwater (drums), and John Rich (bass guitar). Rich left the band in 1998 to pursue a solo career and later formed the duo Big & Rich. McDonald departed in 2007 for solo projects but returned in 2011. In 2021, Drew Womack replaced McDonald as the lead vocalist.
Lonestar achieved significant success with over 20 singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart, including nine number-one hits such as “No News,” “Come Cryin’ to Me,” “Amazed,” “Smile,” “What About Now,” “Tell Her,” “I’m Already There,” “My Front Porch Looking In,” and “Mr. Mom.” Their 1999 hit “Amazed” made history by reaching number one on both the Hot Country Songs and Billboard Hot 100 charts, the first country song to do so since 1983.
The band has released 12 studio albums, with Lonely Grill (1999) achieving triple platinum status. Their music blends traditional country with pop influences, characterized by rich harmonies and heartfelt lyrics.
