Kate Bush

Catherine "Kate" Bush, CBE, is an English singer-songwriter, musician, and record producer known for her eclectic, experimental music and theatrical performances. She rose to prominence in 1978 at age 19 with her debut single Wuthering Heights, which topped the UK Singles Chart for four weeks, making her the first female artist to reach number one with a self-written song. Over her career, she has released ten studio albums—all reaching the UK Top 10—including the number-one albums Never for Ever, Hounds of Love, and the compilation The Whole Story, along with 25 UK Top 40 singles such as "The Man with the Child in His Eyes," "Babooshka," "Running Up That Hill," "Don't Give Up" (with Peter Gabriel), and "King of the Mountain."

Kate Bush's 1985 hit "Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God)" became a global phenomenon thanks to Stranger Things Season 4, where it served as a crucial plot device for Max Mayfield to escape the villain Vecna, introducing her music to a new generation and topping charts worldwide, with Bush herself expressing delight at its resurgence.

Despite 13 nominations for British Phonographic Industry awards, Bush won only once, earning the Brit Award for Best British Female Artist in 1987, and has also been nominated for three Grammys. In 2002, she received an Ivor Novello Award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music, and she was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2013 for services to music. Her idiosyncratic style has influenced a wide range of contemporary artists, cementing her status as one of the most innovative voices in British music.
