Jonathan Banks is an acclaimed actor whose career spans more than five decades across television, film, and voice acting. Born on January 31, 1947, in Washington, D.C., Banks studied at Indiana University before pursuing a career in entertainment that would establish him as one of Hollywood's most respected character actors.
Banks first gained widespread recognition for his role as detective Frank McPike in the groundbreaking television series "Wiseguy" (1987–1990), earning his first Emmy Award nomination. Throughout his career, he has appeared in numerous films and television productions, including "48 Hrs.," "Beverly Hills Cop," "Airplane!," "Gremlins," and "Mudbound."
He achieved international acclaim for his portrayal of Mike Ehrmantraut in the award-winning television series "Breaking Bad." The character's quiet intensity, professionalism, and moral complexity made Mike one of the show's most beloved figures. Banks later reprised the role in the critically acclaimed prequel series "Better Call Saul," earning multiple Primetime Emmy Award nominations.
