Carl Bernstein

Carl Bernstein is a Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative reporter known for his significant contributions to journalism and political reporting. Bernstein, alongside Bob Woodward, uncovered the Watergate scandal for The Washington Post, leading to the resignation of President Richard Nixon and establishing new standards in investigative journalism. Their collaboration resulted in two best-selling books, "All the President’s Men"—which was adapted into a film starring Robert Redford and Dustin Hoffman—and "The Final Days," chronicling the conclusion of the Nixon presidency.

Bernstein has reported extensively on national and international affairs, with his work appearing in major publications such as Time, USA Today, Rolling Stone and The New Republic. His on-air reporting and commentary for CNN, particularly regarding Donald Trump, have continued the investigative tradition he and Woodward established during the Nixon era.

Among Bernstein’s books are "Loyalties: A Son’s Memoir," which explores his family’s experiences during the McCarthy era; "His Holiness: Pope John Paul II" and "The History of Our Time," examining the Pope’s influence on the fall of communism; and "A Woman in Charge: The Life of Hillary Rodham Clinton," regarded as a comprehensive biography of Clinton. His book, "Chasing History: A Kid in the Newsroom," recounts his early days in journalism at the Washington Evening Star, where he began his career as a 16-year-old copyboy during the Kennedy era. He has also served as Washington bureau chief and correspondent for ABC News and contributed as a part-time rock critic at The Washington Post.
