James Cromwell

James Cromwell is known as a versatile character actor in the film and television industry, with a career spanning more than five decades and nearly 200 credits. The son of film director John Cromwell and actress Kay Johnson, Cromwell studied at Carnegie Mellon University before beginning his career in theater, performing in works ranging from Shakespeare to experimental plays. He began appearing on television in the 1970s, gaining recognition for his recurring role as Stretch Cunningham on "All in the Family," and steadily built a reputation as a commanding performer.
