Jacqueline Howard

Jacqueline Howard is a health reporter for CNN, known for her coverage of medicine, public health, and healthy living. She regularly appears on CNN News Central, CNN Max, and CNN International, where her reporting addresses topics such as cancer, mental health, maternal health, and infectious diseases. Howard reported on-air when the World Health Organization declared the coronavirus outbreak a pandemic and continued to provide coverage as the crisis developed. Her work focuses on communicating urgent health issues in broadcast journalism.

Before joining CNN, Howard served as senior science editor at Huffington Post and hosted the video series "Talk Nerdy To Me." Her science communication experience includes collaborations with organizations such as The Nature Conservancy, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and the Big History Project. Howard’s work has been recognized through fellowships, including a Press Fellowship at the United Nations Foundation and a National Fellowship at the USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism. She has also appeared as a guest on The Steve Harvey Show and served as a judge for the Nikon Small World photomicrography competition.

Howard holds a master’s degree in journalism from the University of Southern California Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism and a bachelor’s degree in communication studies from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She serves as vice chair of the National Association of Black Journalists Health and Science Task Force. Through her reporting, public speaking, and educational outreach, Howard demonstrates the role of evidence-based communication in shaping public understanding of health and science.
