Danny Murphy

Danny Murphy is a British deaf actor, comedian, and presenter known for his work in UK entertainment. Murphy, who is from Wallsend, UK, is a fifth-generation Deaf individual. His first language is British Sign Language, followed by spoken English and American Sign Language. From an early age, Murphy developed an interest in video production, creating his own content by age eight. He later produced comedy videos on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, accumulating approximately 5 million views across platforms.

Murphy gained international attention after being cast in the feature film "The Parts You Lose." The film's producers conducted an international search for a hard of hearing actor, ultimately selecting Murphy for the role of Wesley, a deaf boy navigating a challenging home life. Murphy learned American Sign Language for the role. The film, which also starred Aaron Paul, was released in the United States and United Kingdom.

On television, Murphy is the host of ITV's "Dare Master," a program designed for Deaf and Hard of Hearing viewers, where he undertakes a variety of challenges. He received the Rising Star award from the Royal Television Society for his leading role in the children's series "Mission Employable," produced by ITV Signpost. Murphy has also appeared in the BBC soap opera "Doctors" as Rory Morgan and was cast as Luca Smith in "Waterloo Road," becoming the first deaf main character portrayed by a deaf actor in the series' history, marking a milestone for British Sign Language representation.
