Angel McCoughtry

Angel McCoughtry's professional basketball career is distinguished by substantial achievements at both national and international levels. Drafted first overall by the Atlanta Dream in the 2009 WNBA draft, McCoughtry made an immediate impact, earning WNBA Rookie of the Year honors in her debut season. Her stellar performance continued, culminating in her winning the scoring title in 2012, averaging an impressive 21.4 points per game. McCoughtry's talent and drive led her to score her 5,000th point in 2018, joining the prestigious ranks of only 18 other players in WNBA history to achieve this milestone.

McCoughtry has not only excelled in her domestic career but has also made significant contributions on the international stage. Her overseas tenure includes playing in Turkey, Slovakia, Lebanon, Hungary, and Russia, where she won multiple championships, including the Hungarian National League, Turkish National League, and the EuroLeague. Particularly noteworthy was McCoughtry's time with Dynamo Kursk of the Russian Premier League during the 2016-17 off-season, where her team secured the 2017 Euroleague championship.

McCoughtry's commitment to the sport is further evidenced by her involvement with the national team, where she has twice been a gold medalist at the Olympics. First as a member of the National team representing the US at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, and again at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. In addition to her Olympic victories, McCoughtry has been part of the United States women's basketball team that won the 2010 FIBA World Championship and the 2014 FIBA World Championship. McCoughtry's consistent performance and dedication to the sport have earned her a place in the WNBA 25th Anniversary Team.

Outside of basketball, McCoughtry is a filmmaker, director, and producer. She founded the production company McCoughtry Entertainment, and in 2026, they partnered with Digital Epic Studio to create animated films, TV, and digital content.
