Hozier

Andrew John Hozier-Byrne, known professionally as Hozier, is an Irish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist recognized for his soulful blend of blues, folk, and soul music. The son of a blues musician, Hozier studied music at Trinity College Dublin and participated in the Trinity Orchestra before leaving to pursue recording opportunities. He performed with the Irish choral group Anúna and toured internationally, further developing his musical style.

Hozier's music often incorporates religious and literary themes, drawing influence from artists such as Aretha Franklin and Van Morrison, as well as Irish writers including Seamus Heaney and W.B. Yeats. His debut EP featured the single "Take Me to Church," which addressed discrimination and quickly gained international attention through digital platforms. The song led to a major-label contract, platinum certifications in multiple countries, and a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year. Hozier performed "Take Me to Church" and "I Put a Spell on You" with Annie Lennox at the Grammy Awards. The single achieved significant global chart success.

Following his debut, Hozier released the "Nina Cried Power" EP, collaborating with Mavis Staples and Booker T. Jones. The title track was recognized at the Ivor Novello Awards. His album "Wasteland, Baby!" debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard Top 200 Chart, featuring 14 original compositions. The third studio album, "Unreal Unearth," presented a song cycle inspired by Dante's Inferno and included the hit "Too Sweet," which reached No. 1 on the Hot 100.

In addition to his music career, Hozier is active in social causes. He wrote and recorded "Jackboot Jump," donating royalties to Black Lives Matter and NAACP. Hozier also launched the "Cry Power" podcast with Global Citizen, engaging with artists and activists on social change. His work often addresses religious and political topics, and he was named to Time's list of the world's most influential people.

Hozier is known for dynamic live performances, with the Unreal Unearth Tour drawing over one million fans and achieving record ticket sales across numerous cities. With more than 22 billion global streams, multiple platinum albums, and several award nominations and wins, Hozier is regarded as a leading figure in contemporary singer-songwriter and alternative music.
