Annie Potts

Annie Potts is an Emmy- and Golden Globe-nominated actress known for iconic characters in “Designing Women”, the “Ghostbusters” franchise, and the wildly successful “Toy Story” franchise. Potts’ other film credits include “Pretty in Pink”, “Jumpin’ Jack Flash”, and “Corvette Summer”, for which she received a Golden Globe Award nomination. In television, her work in “Love & War” was Emmy nominated and her performance in “Any Day Now” garnered two Screen Actors Guild Award nominations.

She earned two Critics’ Choice Award nominations for her role as Meemaw in CBS hit “Young Sheldon” and she reprised the role on “George and Mandy’s First Marriage”.

Potts will next be seen in rom-com “40 Dates and 40 Nights”. Next year, she will star in Fox’s new medical comedy series “Best Medicine”.

Fifty years ago, Potts’ car was hit by a drunk driver, breaking all but one bone below her waist. After more than 25 surgeries and decades of chronic pain, she remains a vocal advocate against drunk driving.

Potts founded the charity The Heart Channels, which provides guidance, resources, and financial support to individuals at critical crossroads, focusing on health and wellbeing, quality of life, and education.

She received her BFA in theater from Stephens College in Missouri where she is a visiting professor of Drama and a dedicated Board Member. The Nashville native is the mother of three grown sons and resides in Los Angeles.
