Erika Holiday Biography

Her new co-authored book entitled �Mean Girls, Meaner Women: Understanding Why Women Backstab, Betray and Trash Talk Each Other and How to Heal� is currently available. It is a book for girls in their late teens and adult women who are interested in learning more about why females hurt each other. The book talks about meanness as a coping strategy for women, women's difficulty handling angry and competitive feelings and other influences that foster an environment where women are hostile toward one another. The overall goal of the book is to help women lead more honest, authentic and vital lives. Dr. Erika Holiday is a licensed clinical psychologist and has a private practice in Los Angeles, CA. She works with adolescents, adults, and couples. Her specialty areas include relationship issues; matters related to health and disease; and women's issues (e.g. teen and adult bullying, mother-daughter relationships). She conducts workshops and professional presentations discussing how women and men can create healthier relationships. Dr. Holiday serves as co-host of a weekly radio program in Los Angeles (Full Circle, KCSN - 88.5 FM, kcsn.org), which is dedicated to promoting a culture of positivity, healing, transformation and connection. She also serves as a part-time faculty member at Pierce and Valley Community Colleges. She co-authored the book Mean Girls, Meaner Women: Understanding why women backstab, betray and trashtalk each other and how to heal. She has been featured on CNN, Fox News, KTLA and MTV's The Real World After Show.

Dr. Holiday received her doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology (with a concentration area in diversity) at Phillips Graduate Institute in Encino, California. Her masters degree in Psychology was completed at Pepperdine University in Los Angeles, CA. Holiday completed her pre-doctoral hours at California State University Northridge University Counseling Services and her post-doctoral hours at The Help Group.

Erika has considerable experience conducting individual child and adolescent, adult, couples, family and group psychotherapy, whether it involves responding to a crisis or short or long term treatment, with culturally and ethnically diverse populations, in both community-oriented and college/university settings. Her earlier counseling positions included conducting group therapy with sex offenders at The Pacific Clinics in Van Nuys, CA; providing individual adult and child therapy, and family therapy at the California Family Counseling Center in Encino, CA; providing therapy for children with developmental delays and disabilities at the Child Development Institute in Woodland Hills, CA; therapy with adults and older adults who were experiencing chronic mental and physical disabilities at San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health in Van Nuys, CA; and therapy with children and their families who are severely emotionally disturbed at The Help Group in Van Nuys, CA.
