Carlos Calderón Biography
Carlos Calderón is one of the most popular presenters and reporters of the show at Univision. Since 2004, he has been a guest presenter on the chain's "El Gordo y la Flaca" entertainment news program.
Calderón is also a spokesperson for Univision Communications's "It's the Time" educational program, as well as its R2L (Ready to Lead) campaign in partnership with the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, which promotes leadership and The education of young Hispanics. He also hosted Univision's "First Impact Weekend," one of the most popular news magazines among Hispanics in the United States.
During his career, Calderón has been a master of ceremonies at Univision for numerous special events, including the Mariachi Festival, Univision's New Year celebrations, the celebration of the Mexican Bicentennial from Mexico City in 2010 and the World Cup in South Africa. He has also co-hosted the show on the "Premios Juventud" red carpet for almost all of his 10 years, as well as presenting, writing and producing a special segment for Univision On Demand with blunderbusses at the awards ceremony.
In 2000, he co-hosted "Lente Loco", Univision's comedic hidden-camera program, in which he also appeared as an actor. Calderón presented "Arrasa con todo con K-Mart", the Spanish version of "Supermarket Sweep", and "Acceso Máximo", an interactive and live entertainment and music program broadcast on Galavisión, the most outstanding cable chain In Spanish from the United States. He wrote his own opening monologues, interviewed personalities, and participated in comic acts.
Calderón has been a candidate for Presenter of the Year twice and has been among the "50 Most Beautiful" and the "50 Most Beautiful Singles" of People en Español magazine.
In his free time, he explores another of his passions: art. She is a caricaturist at Univision.com and has had personal exhibitions of her paintings in Los Angeles and Miami, and has recently made art installations with videos at Art Basel in Miami.
Calderón was born in Mexico City and studied theater in Los Angeles and Miami, and post-production in New York City. He has a degree in architecture and urban design.
