Drew Fulton Biography

Drew Fulton, founder of Park Photo Guides and EducateAMuse, is the author of the Guides for Everglades National Park and Big Cypress National Preserve. He is a photographer with a passion for exploring the natural world. Fulton is an avid birder and lifelong naturalist and brings that knowledge and experience to his photography. As a Thomas J. Watson Fellow, Fulton has completed a year of extensive travel throughout Australia searching for and photographing Australias numerous endemic birds. Previously, Fulton earned a B.A. with honors from Bowdoin College where he designed his own major combining environmental science with photography and ecology. For his honors thesis, Fulton produced a book of photographs and essays about the Florida Everglades, a project which included a five month residency in Everglades National Park. Today, despite having moved out of state, Drew returns to photograph in the Everglades region on a regular basis.

Fulton continues to explore the worlds diverse ecosystems and has been awarded a National Geographic Society Young Explorers Grant for his work in Monteverde, Costa Rica. Through his collaboration with a field biologist and videographer, he has created a website, Canopy in the Clouds, dedicated to bringing the cloud forest canopy to classrooms around the world to inspire the next generation of scientists.

His work has been used by numerous organizations including the National Geographic Society and published in numerous field and site guides as well as recognized in the 2003 Nature Photographers Network Editors Picks and the Delta Sigma/Sigma Upsilon Art contest at Bowdoin College. His solo exhibition at Bowdoin College of over 100 prints from the Everglades earned him the Richard F. Martel Jr. Memorial Prize.
