Melky Jean aka Melky Sadeck is a singer, songwriter, author and humanitarian who happens to be the younger sister of Fugees founder Wyclef Jean. Melky is a Grammy nominated song writer who has written for artist like Sinead O’Connor, Regina Belle and many others.
Melky's distinct vocals can be found on artist like Carlos Santana's album The Shaman. She has also contributed songs to soundtracks like Love Jones (their breakout single "I've Got a Love"), Little Nikki, Two Can Play That Game, The Hurricane ("Still I Rise"), and she is the voice of Sanaa Lathan in HBO’s hit Disappearing Acts where she landed one of her biggest hits (Brooklyn) a heart felt ballad.
As a performer Melky has opened up for groups like the Roots, Black Eyed Peas, Outkast, and has shared the stage with powerhouses like Sheryl Mclaughlin and the incomparable Patti Lablle. Her press book contains over 100 magazine publications from around the world. Melky has been critically acclaimed by Marie Claire and Rolling Stones. Rolling Stones magazine named her one of the best underground acts, Vibe magazine and even Cosmopolitan magazine went as far as to compare her to a young Glades Knight.
If she isn't touring with her brother Wyclef Jean, she can be found performing with her band doing "A Tribute To Soul Music". In the show, Melky incorporates her own original songs with some of her favorite soul legends like Betty Wright, Joe cocker, Celia Cruz and Tina Turner to name a few.
After writing and producing various sound tracks for film, Melky landed her first syndicated television show throughtout the United States as Host and Correspondent of Vibe magazines new television show reaching millions of viewers. That exposure would push her in the direction to write concepts for her own television shows that she would produce through her own production company G Carma Inc, further testing her creativity. Melky also began to write music video treatments that to her surprise would later have her behind the camera as a director. After directing a series of music video's she now writes movie scripts hoping to have her first featured film released soon.
Given her extensive and broad entertainment career, she has still made time to pay it forward. Her most gratifying accomplishment to date is an organization she has founded, The Carma Foundation. A non profit dedicated to addressing the needs of women and children in her native homeland Haiti.
Her charitable praises have recently been publicized in Washington luxury,CNN, Fox News, MTV, MSNBC, NY Post, Griot.com, Essence Magazine, HipHopWeekly, and Sister 2 Sister Magazine.
In September 20I0 Melky Jean was honored in New York at The 5 Continents Academy Awards for her work in Haiti and as a role model to the Haitian Jaspora.
Also in September of 2012 she was presented an award for her support of the Make A Wish foundation in Dublin Ireland.
