Amjad is an entrepreneur at heart. He co-founded SilkRoute where he is the CEO and Chief Data Scientist. He has built a passionate team of designers, machine learning scientists and software engineers with tremendous industry knowledge of retail category management and discrete consumer choice behavior. SilkRoute team is applying the power of machine learning to solve big problems in Retail. SilkRoute customers include suppliers, wholesales, distributors, retailers and ultimately the consumers.

Amjad is the principal founder of NextWave, an incubator focused at tech start-ups based in Metro Detroit. Amjad is helping NextWave Incubator companies discover their unique winning formulas thru rapid and guided experimentation. Amjad is an investor and advisor at Detroit Venture Partners and a mentor at Techstars.

In his previous leadership positions, Amjad worked as the CIO and business unit head for large US corporations.

Amjad is an Honors Electrical Engineering & Computer Science graduate and a senior member of IEEE. He earned his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering & Computer Science from UMIST, in the United Kingdom and an MBA from MIT. Amjad is an active researcher and practitioner in the field of machine learning. He has completed Advanced Management Programs at Harvard and Stanford. Amjad was recognized in the Crain's 's '40 under 40' Executive recognition award program for his pioneering work in analytics.

Amjad shares his time between Detroit, Boston and London. In his play time, he develops deep learning models.
