Darren Guccione Biography
Darren is a serial inventor and entrepreneur with expertise in product design, engineering and development. Darren is currently the CEO & Co-Founder of Keeper Security, Inc. Prior to this, Darren served as Chief Financial Officer and financial advisor to JiWire, the leading media and technology service provider for the WiFi industry. He was the former Chief Financial Officer and a primary shareholder of Apollo Solutions, Inc., the creator of an online commerce platform for the computer products industry, which he and his partners sold to CNET Networks, Inc. (now CBS Interactive).
In addition to co-founding several software companies, Darren founded Callpod, the creator of several products for mobile conferencing, unified communications, wireless headsets and device charging. Callpod technology is now licensed by global consumer electronics companies.
Darren is very active in the Chicago technology community. He is a board member of the Chicago Entrepreneurial Center (1871), a non-profit that supports the development of early stage companies and an advisor for TechStars, a Chicago-based technology incubator for innovative start ups. Darren regularly is interviewed about mobile and online security and has presented at several technology events and universities to help new entrepreneurs with start-up strategies and models. Darren also served on the Committee of Technology Infrastructure under Mayor Richard Daley.
Early in his engineering and design career, Darren lived in Asia, where he coordinated product development for Bell Sports, a world leader in the bicycle accessories market. Darren holds a Masters of Science in Accountancy with Distinction from the Kellstadt School of Business at DePaul University of Chicago and has a Bachelors of Science in Mechanical and Industrial Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he received the Evans Scholarship and the Morton Thiokol Excellence in Engineering Design Award. Darren is also a licensed Certified Public Accountant.
