Roger Stein Biography

Roger Stein is the managing director of research and academic relations at Moody's Corporation and a research affiliate at the MIT Sloan School of Management. He has been developing approaches to applied risk modeling for more than 20 years. As the co-head of Moody's KMV's research and product development, Stein led the development of commercial risk-management tools that have been adopted by hundreds of financial institutions globally. Previously, Stein led Moody's risk-management services research group. He has authored more than 50 professional and academic articles and books and serves on the editorial boards of several finance-related journals. His academic and professional research includes credit risk, systemic risk and machine learning. He serves on the board of Planet Finance, USA; the Business Practices Council of the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business; and the advisory council of the Museum of Mathematics. Stein has a Ph.D. and master's degree from the Stern School of Business, New York University.
