Jamelle Bouie is a columnist for the New York Times and political analyst for CBS News based in Charlottesville, Virginia and Washington D.C. He covers campaigns, elections, national affairs, and culture.

Bouie has frequently appeared on the CBS's Sunday morning show “Face the Nation,” as well as during the network's election night 2016 coverage. He has written extensively on racial politics, including the Ferguson unrest, the Charleston church shooting, and the subsequent Black Lives Matter movement.

Prior to the Times, Jamelle was chief political correspondent for Slate magazine. Before that, he was a staff writer at The Daily Beast and held fellowships at The American Prospect and The Nation magazine. He attended the University of Virginia, where he graduated with a degree in political and social thought, and government.

In 2012, Bouie was chosen for The Root Magazine's Root Top 100. In 2015, Forbes magazine recognized Bouie in their "30 Under 30 - Media" list, saying that "he became a leading voice on the Ferguson story."
