Damian Whitewood Biography
Damian Whitewood was born and raised in Perth, Western Australia. He currently resides in Los Angeles where he has become a household name, as a professional ballroom dancer on the American television series ABC’s Dancing With The Stars.
The year 2010 was a massive rollercoaster ride of achievements with his first appearance on Season 10 of Dancing With The Stars with celebrity partner Pamela Anderson. He also achieved one of his life long goals making his Broadway Debut in the world-renowned show Burn The Floor as a lead dancer, which opened to rave reviews and sold out performances.
Damian was exposed to ballroom dancing at the age of 10 through his older brother, who took dance lessons to impress a girl! He quickly learned to love the art form and hung up his footy boots for a pair of dance shoes! He then went on to become the Australian Champion, State Champion and Australasian Champion in Ballroom and Latin styles. He also represented Australia in the Worlds Youth Latin in Germany, the Worlds Youth Ballroom in Russia and was a semi-finalist in all major international championships in the UK.
For the past 10 years Damian has been a cast member of Burn The Floor, which has sold in excess of 4 million tickets in over 30 countries and 160 cities worldwide. Some career highlights have been sharing the stage with the late James Brown, Shirley Bassey and Deep Purple in Monte Carlo. And of course some of the most amazing and inspiring dancers from around the world. He has guest starred on Dancing With The Stars in Australia, Israel and America and has also appeared on So You Think You Can Dance in Australia and Holland. Damian was a Co-host and Dancer in Montréal’s “Just for Laughs” Comedy Festival Gala Evening 2010.
