Miriam Peskowitz Biography

The Daring Book for GIrls is an internationally bestselling book. In 2007 it spent fourteen weeks on the New York Times Bestsellers List, and it has appeared in 10 foreign languages, including German, Spanish, Dutch and Chinese, with two additional English-editions, one for Australia and one for the UK.

Daring has also spawned numerous licensing deals, with board games, a video game called The Daring Game for Girls (February 2010), a product line for Marks & Spencer, calendars, mini-games and adventure kits, as well as a promotion as a Burger King Happy Meal.

The reach of the book is wide, with nearly 2 million books sold, and I have fans who are 9, fans who are 90, and fans who are everywhere inbetween, from college students, to middle aged mothers and fathers. The audience is 7 to 70, with people of all ages loving the book's inspiration of finding dreams, following curiosities, doing projects and learning new skills.

My talks are inspirational and motivational. I speak to all audiences, and at times, specifically to women's issues, especially women's specific fears of being daring. More generally, I speak of being daring and taking on the world, of having dreams and getting in the game (or getting back in the game), of having an entrepreneurial idea, dealing with risk and fear as well as courage, and moving ahead to find success.

I've been represented as a speaker by the HarperCollins Speakers Bureau, where my fees have been in the 5k range.
