Tom Dawes

Tom Dawes is a self-confessed ‘Recovering Manufacturer’; after studying for a PhD in Supply Chain Collaboration Technologies, Dawes faced a crossroads between entering the Technology or Manufacturing sectors. He chose Manufacturing, but after several successful years as an MD within the Aerospace treatments industry, the global downturn in this sector caused him to rethink.

Now armed with in-depth industry insight, Dawes formed Valuechain in 2010, a provider of Smart Manufacturing Software.Valuechain Technology provides smart manufacturing software to build world class supply chains and has established a global client base (from Primes such as Bentley Motors, to aerospace micro SMEs in Bangalore) that all have a common goal of integrating their businesses and supply chains to create integrated, innovative and intelligent value chains.

Previously, Dawes founded several aerospace manufacturing and technology businesses around the world and he understands first-hand about the challenges of running manufacturing SMEs and the importance of converting data into intelligence through smart technology. Combining his industrial experience (good and bad) with PhD research in supply chain collaboration and intelligence, Dawes has a clear vision of how companies will connect and collaborate in the future as integrated valuechains.

Additionally, Dawes has secured a €3.2m H2020 project from European Commission to make his PhD supply chain research a reality and is living the dream!
