Ross D. King Biography
Ross D. King is professor of machine intelligence at the University of Manchester, UK. His research interests are in the interface between computer science and biology and chemistry. The research achievement he is most proud of is originating the idea of a “robot scientist,” using laboratory robotics to physically implement a closed-loop scientific discovery system. In 2009, TIME magazine included King’s invention, “Adam,” the first robotic system to make a novel scientific discovery with virtually no human intellectual input, on its list of the Top 10 Scientific Discoveries. King’s work on this subject has been published in top scientific journals including Science and Scientific American and has received wide publicity. King also studies computational aesthetics.
