Khaled Abu-Ajwa

I am a Jordanian full time advocate of sustainability and efficiency. Over the past four years, I have been profoundly involved in the fields of energy, water and the environment in Jordan and the MENA region, I worked in the private sector as an energy engineer consulting organizations and individuals on how to reduce their energy/water consumption, lower their carbon and negative environmental footprint, as well as endorsing green/sustainable building designs and techniques.

I then joined the public sector at the Jordan Investment Board – Government of Jordan Investment Promotion Agency, promoting Jordan for FDI/DDI with a focus on strategic and sustainable projects in addition to the setup and initial operation of the Public Private Partnership (PPP) and Policy Advocacy Units to liaison between public and private sectors’ needs and interests. Furthermore, I've been deeply involved in various extra related activities like being a member of the technical committee of the Jordan Green Building Council working on the localization of LEED certification. Moreover, I am part of the steering committee working on the setup and development of the first vocational training center for renewable energy professionals in Jordan. In addition to being an active member in the Jordan Energy Chapter of the Association of Energy Engineers, and an Ambassador of MENA Carboun Initiative in Jordan.

I am currently pursuing my entrepreneurial ambitions through the recent establishment of my own digital & social media marketing company whereby I am integrating & correlating sustainability into the conventional advertising/marketing models. I hold a B.Eng in Electrical Engineering from McGill University, Canada (2007) and a Master’s Degree in e-Business Management from the University of Salento, Italy (2009). I am also a certified Carbon Reduction Manager (CRM) by the Association of Energy Engineers, USA (2011).
