Daniel Harawa is an appellate staff attorney at Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, an organization that provides legal services to the disadvantaged. In 2013, he argued and won a case, Hernandez v. Banks, before the D.C. Court of Appeals, involving the legality of contracts signed by the mentally ill. The Court's opinion in that case overturned its own 140-year-old precedent. Prior to PDS, Daniel worked at Covington & Burling, where he won a prisoner civil rights case. He graduated from the University of Richmond and holds a JD from Georgetown.
