Christopher N. Boddy

Christopher Boddy is the Director of the Biochemistry Program and a Full Professor at the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Boddy is the Principal Investigator of the Boddy Lab, which uses synthetic chemistry, biochemistry, and molecular biology to determine how microorganisms build complex biologically active molecules. The findings are used for biomedical applications including drug discovery and molecular pharmacology.

Boddy’s other fields of interest include organic and biological chemistry, natural products, polyketides, nonulosinic acids, biosynthetic pathways, synthetic chemistry, biomimetic total synthesis, biochemistry, enzymology, molecular microbiology, and metabolic engineering.

In 2018, Boddy spoke at numerous science conferences including the Industrial Synthetic Biology Congress, the French American Chemical Society meeting, the CSC 101th Canadian Chemistry Conference, the Manitoba Chemistry Symposium and PepTalk 2017.

Boddy received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta and received his Ph.D. in organic synthesis from The Scripps Research Institute. Prior to becoming a Full Professor at the University of Ottawa in 2016, Boddy worked as a Visiting Professor at the University of California San Diego and the Universidad Nacional de Costa Rica as well as an Associate Professor at the University of Ottawa and Syracuse University.
