Her career dates back to two decades ago. After being coronated as the first runner-up in Miss Venezuela 1990 and winning first place in Miss Flower Queen in Japan, Chiquinquira debuted on the Venezuelan fashion catwalks, inaugurating her successful career.
Parallel to this, she converted the image of the cannel Sony Entertainment Television, animating the sections “What’s New” and “Sony Style.” This experience catapulted her across screens in Latin America. Her television debut was as the host of the variety television program “TV Time.” She then continued her television experience conducting, over four years, a game show, sponsored by the National Lottery. In 1999, she started acting and tried her hand as a writer and producer of the telenovela “Cesar Miguel Rondon” and was the protagonist in the drama “Calypso.” In the year 2000, she traveled to Peru to star with Marcelo Cezan in the drama series “Maria Rosa, Buscame Una Esposa.” After her big international debut, she returned to Venezuela and hosted the competition program “Mega Match,” while also starring in the telenovela “Mambo y Canela.”
Her career as a model gained her international recognition with video clips with international stars like Luis Miguel and Alejandro Fernandez.
The role she is most known for as an actress came about in 2003 when she co-starred in one of the most successful drama series on Venezuelan TV, “Cosita Rica,” where she shared credits with the Colombian heartthrob Rafael Novoa. At the same time, she co-hosted with Daniel Sarcos “La guerra de los sexos,” amplifying her public awareness in all of Latin America due to the large audience who tuned in.
In 2004, she was a guest host on a season of Univision’s “Despierta America,” which airs from coast to coast in the US.
In 2005, she became the host of “Portadas,” a daily morning show on Venezuelan television. She earned great response from the public and Chiquinquira showcased her likability, charisma and communicative strength. Chiquinquira Delgado has one of the most prominent public images in Venezuela. She has starred in a multitude of commercials, and her exclusive contract of more than ten years with Banco Occiedental de Descuento is very prestigious.
In 2009, she became the host of the program “Where Love is Born,” which successfully aired in primetime on the screens of Venevision. That year also marked her foray into the world of cinema, sharing the screen with the renowned actor Ving Rhames in a feature film directed by Dominica Alfonso Rodriguez. Months after, she added another cinematic experience and traveled to Ecuador to participate in the film “Cuento sin hadas” by director Sergio Briones.
In 2010, she achieved international recognition by signing a prestigious deal with Univision to compete alongside Javier Poza in its successful program, “Mira quien baila.”
In October of that year she traveled to present at “Miss Venezuela,” sharing the stage with Boris Izaguirre, Maite Delgado and Viviana Gibelli in what is known as “the most important program on Venezuelan television.” Weeks later, Chiqui acted as the host of the Latin Grammy awards show in Las Vegas, and together with Giselle Blondet, they conducted the special “What You Didn't See at the Grammys” with all of the celebrities backstage.
In 2011, she received a new challenge, forming a staff of the most successful hosts for “Despierta America,” airing daily in the US for more than 10 years.
Her permanence in the artistic medium of Latin America is based on her great quality and delivery, solidifying Chinquinquira Delgado as one of the most prominent stars in the Hispanic world.
