Bharat Wakhlu

Based in New Delhi, India, Bharat has considerable experience in the areas of Responsible Business and Sustainability, Ethics and Governance, Leadership Development, Total Quality and Supply Chain Management, as well as Corporate and Community Relations. He has been active in emphasizing the role of businesses in working towards Sustainable Growth, Poverty Alleviation, Human Rights and the management of HIV/AIDS at the workplace.

He is a Member of the Tata Group’s Steering Committees for Innovation and for Climate Change, and before his current role, he served as the President of Tata Incorporated, New York, managing the Group’s presence in the Americas.

Bharat has had his Engineering and Management education in India, France and the US. He is the author of the best-selling books: Total Quality – Excellence through Organization-wide Transformation and (as Co-editor) of Restoring Values – Keys to Integrity, Ethical Behaviour and Good Governance. His first novel, Close Call in Kashmir, has been released by Penguin India, in December 2010.

Mr. Wakhlu is also a Member on the Boards of the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs, and the Global Advisory Council of the American Society for Quality (ASQ). He is a Member of the Transnational Council of British American Business, and the General Secretary of the Foundation for the Restoration of National Values. He has contributed to the U.N. Global Compact’s Committee for the 10th Principle, and is fluent in six languages.
