Just like last year, our respondents did not disappoint us, providing valuable advice to carry with you throughout your 2023 events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Below, I\u2019ve compiled a collection of the top responses for the main themes that emerged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Plan and book as early as you can:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Engage your stakeholders in the process as early as possible.&#8221; <\/em>&#8211; Kaleigh Imbriale<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Plan well in advance. It always takes 50% more time than you think.&#8221; <\/em>&#8211; Mario Peraza<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cPlan as much in advance as possible; Engage your communities; Seek partnerships.\u201d <\/em>&#8211; Anonymous<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Go with the flow and be ready to adapt:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Flexibility is key! Also, be nice. We&#8217;re all running the same race, just at different speeds.&#8221; <\/em>&#8211; Mary Spadoni<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Stay open to change\u2026there have been times where the direction the speaker went was not my plan but was exactly what my audience needed to hear.&#8221; <\/em>&#8211; Anonymous<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cOn the day of the event, embrace and accept the day as it unfolds. Even if things don&#8217;t go quite as you planned, the audience doesn\u2019t know anything is amiss as long as event organizers are collected and calm.\u201d <\/em>&#8211; Anonymous<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>In your speaker search, keep an open mind:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Plan ahead of time to try to find a speaker that fits your mission and goal of the event in advance (6 months to 1 year).&#8221; <\/em>&#8211; Richard Yonck<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe big names don&#8217;t always sell \u2014 find a lesser known speaker who has really good reviews.\u201d <\/em>&#8211; Jena Gardner<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Try to find speakers that fit the event, rather than the other way around.&#8221; <\/em>&#8211; Heather Marks<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A few other general words of wisdom:<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Make your in-person meetings fun \u2014 do something fun and exciting. Give your attendees free time to enjoy the venue.&#8221; <\/em>&#8211; Kathi Bretcko<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;Be clear in expectations and requests from the get-go.
