There’s always a strong sense of wonder for fans of the show, what our favorite Saturday Night Live alums will be up to once they leave the show. Hopefully they continue to make funny movies and TV shows, but you never really know what to expect. It’s always a special treat to see them reunited in any way. Sometimes, it’s just playing a game on a late night talk show. Other times they produce amazing work together. The latter is especially the case when it comes to some very recent fan favorites’ new show, Documentary Now!.
Documentary Now! is an IFC’s series co-created by Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen, and Bill Hader. The series parodies some of the world’s best-known documentaries and each episode is shot in a different style of documentary filmmaking. The show was nominated for a 2016 Emmy for outstanding variety sketch series. Documentary Now! airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. on IFC and it is now in its second season.
Co-creators Fred Armisen, Bill Hader and Seth Meyers sat down with Janice Min of 92Y to discuss the show. The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment co-presented this panel with the 92nd Street Y as part of The Hollywood Reporter’s TV Talks series in recognition of the Mayor’s Office of Film, Theatre and Broadcasting’s milestone 50th anniversary.
Hear what the creators of the show have to say about their inspirations for season one and what we can expect from the new season in the full 92Y video:
