As the third Quarter initiative, AAE CARES organized a donation drive for the local Chapel Hill branch of the Ronald McDonald House organization. Working with other nearby businesses to display collection bins and signs about the drive, both AAE employees and members of the public contributed to the cause.
About Ronald McDonald House:
Ronald McDonald House is a non-profit organization that aims to help families dealing with the illness of a child. Based on the idea that families are stronger together, their house allows families to stay together while their child undergoes treatment.
Additionally, the House reduces the financial stress by offering rooms at low prices, or even for free. They provide everything from groceries to recreational activities for the families living there, allowing them to spend time with ailing children and confer with their medical teams.
The donation drive ran for the entire length of August and a few days into September. With all the chaos caused by Hurricane Florence in this time, the Durham/Chapel Hill community was still happy to donate to families in need. Overall, the drive collected 178 food & household items. Additionally, All American Entertainment “adopted” a room for a year, allowing the families who need it to stay rent free.
