As part of the AAE CARES community support initiative, All American Entertainment employees partnered with The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina to support local families in Durham who struggle to access nutritious and adequate amounts of food necessary to live a healthy life.
The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina: Serving the community for over 35 years
The Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina is a nonprofit organization that has provided food for people at risk of hunger in 34 counties in North Carolina.
For over 35 years, the Food Bank’s mission has been “No One Goes Hungry in Central & Eastern North Carolina”. Part of their mission is to serve the 630,000 people in the region, who face food insecurity on a day to day basis.
Since it was founded in 1980, The Food Bank has expanded the network it serves to include partner agencies in service areas across central and eastern North Carolina. Food collected by the public is distributed from collection centers in Durham, Greenville, New Bern, Raleigh, the Sandhills (Southern Pines), and Wilmington to over 800 partner agencies such as soup kitchens, food pantries, and shelters, located in central and Eastern North Carolina.
AAE Food Drive: Combating Hunger in our Backyard
AAE partnered with the Food Bank’s Durham collection and distribution center to hold a food drive to help support food insecure families in the Durham service area.
Our dedicated AAE CARES committee set up donation bins in AAE, Suntrust Bank, and a variety of businesses in the Sutton Station commercial community to collect food and non-perishable household items for those in need. Together we were able to collect 242 lbs. of food!
All the donations collected during the food drive will be distributed to partner agencies, in the Chatham, Durham, Granville, Orange, Person, and Vance counties, and support the 106,000 people in the Durham service area who live in food-insecure households.
AAE CARES: Creating Positive Change
AAE CARES is All American Entertainment’s charitable endeavor, dedicated to empowering established community groups though resource support and outreach efforts. The committee organizes different volunteer activities throughout the year. The multi-business food drive to donate to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina was the first AAE CARES initiative of 2018.
Previously, AAE CARES facilitated the Angel Tree program for the Salvation Army of Durham, and AAE employees spent two days volunteering at the Special Olympics Basketball Tournament, working with elementary, middle, and high school student-athletes. As well, in 2017, AAE threw a Summer Carnival for The Boys and Girls Club of Durham and Orange Counties and supported the kids going back to school with a school supply drive.
