10 August Movies Coming to the Big Screen

Finish up your summer vacation with a great movie on the big screen.  Hollywood started the summer off with plenty of excellent entertainment, and we have more to look forward to as the summer winds down.  Here are 10 anticipated August movies that are coming to theaters, including high action, romance, and dramatic flicks.


The Dark Tower
August 4th

The Dark TowerBased on novels authored by John Grisham, The Dark Tower tells the story of the last Gunslinger, who must prevent his nemesis, the Man in Black, from toppling the Dark Tower.  The two foes battle with the future of humanity resting on this event.

Wind River
August 4th

Wind RiverThis Sundance thriller follows a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service agent, played by Jeremy Renner, and an FBI agent, Elizabeth Olsen, as they investigate a potential homicide on an Indian reservation in Wyoming. Considered a must-see film.

Detroit 
August 4th

Detroit

This movie takes you back in history with a thriller, taking place in 1967.  Starring John Boyega, it tells the tale of the 12th Street Riot when three black men were killed, and several people were beaten, by the Detroit Police Department in the Algiers Motel Incident.

The Glass Castle
August 11th

Glass Castle

Based on Jeannette Walls‘ memoir, this American drama film tells the tale of a young woman who was raised by dysfunctional parents.  When they decide to move to New York to be close to their daughter, her entire world gets turned upside down.

Ingrid Goes West
August 11th

Ingrid Goes WestAfter her mother dies, Ingrid Thorburn decides to move out West to find, and befriend, her idol on Instagram- a socialite named Taylor Sloane.  While they initially become friends, their relationship soon takes a turn for the worse in this part comedy, part drama film.

August 18th

Patti Cake$Patricia Dombrowski is an aspiring ganster rapper, stage name Patti Cake$, who is trying desperately to make it big, as her life is falling apart.  With few friends, a grandmother, and a mother to emotionally care for, Patti’s talented performance resonates with audiences.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard

Polaroid
August 25th
