Tracy Hutson Biography
Member of the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" team; Author of "Feathering the Nest: An Earth-Friendly Guide to Decorating Your Baby's Nest"
Tracy Hutson has been a stylist and designer since 1999, when she started her own Los Angeles-based design business. In 2003 she became part of the design team on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," a television phenomenon dedicated to renovating and rebuilding homes for families in need. The show ranked number one in its time slot across all demographics, boasting 14 million viewers per week, and won two Emmy awards.
Through her involvement with the show, Tracy witnessed firsthand the dramatic impact that living spaces have on the lives of the people who occupy them. Every episode stimulated her naturally philanthropic spirit, and she responded to each familys needs with compassion and enthusiasm. Given her particular zeal for designing childrens spaces, she lovingly customizes rooms for the younger family members, adding personal touches that consistently enthralled and enchanted.
During Season Two of the show, Tracy found out that she was expecting a child of her own. She gave birth to Oliver in May 2005, an event that would change her career and knowledge in inspiring ways. Oliver and mom hit the road for their first season designing together, traveling to help families in need, the presence of her son adding a new dimension to Tracy's work and expanding her love of designing spaces for little ones.
In 2007, Tracy found out she was expecting for the second time. She wanted to create a space for her new baby and Oliver that was not only environmentally safe but also fun and enjoyable for her little ones. After the birth of Felix, designing green spaces became her passion. Even with her growing family, she found time to complete her first book combining her love for designing nurseries and her commitment to the environment. Tracy's book, "Feathering The Nest: An Earth- Friendly Guide To Decorating your Baby's Nest" hit shelves in Spring 2009.
As the Interior Style and Shopping Designer on "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," Tracy's fun-loving personality adds an element of spontaneity and creativity to the show. She continues to expand her successful design company with current projects in Dallas, as well as California.
