 Ruth Jacobowitz is an award-winning medical writer, dynamic national lecturer, and columnist. A former vice-president of a large university-affiliated teaching hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, Jacobowitz's research centers on the physical changes of women's bodies as they grow older. Spurred by her own experiences, Jacobowitz uses warmth, wit and wisdom to educate women on aging and to empower them to take charge of their health.

An accomplished author, Jacobowitz's books have been published in fifteen languages. Her books include The Estrogen Answer Book; 150 Most-Asked Questions About Menopause; 150 Most-Asked Questions About Osteoporosis; and 150 Most-Asked Questions About Sex, Love, and Intimacy. She is also co-author of Managing Your Menopause. Her most recent book, Final Acts, is a feminist medical thriller that takes place in a hospital setting. Jacobowitz's work has been widely reviewed and quoted by such notable publications as The New York Times, Vanity Fair, The Washington Post, Longevity, The Los Angeles Times, and Newsweek.

The only lay speaker invited to the World Congress on Fertility and Sterility in Montpelier, France, to speak to physicians about “Women’s Perspectives on HRT,” Jacobowitz actively lectures to various healthcare consumer groups in the medical community, including hospitals, associations, and corporations, as well as women's health forums. She has also appeared on various television shows, including "48 Hours," "Today," "CBS Morning," and the Food Television Network's "Getting Healthy."

Listed in Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in American Women, Jacobowitz is a member of the National Council on Women’s Health, North American Menopause Society, International Menopause Society, and was former Midwest Chair of the Association of American Medical Colleges Group on Public Affairs. A member of the Press Club, she is a trustee of Scripps Memorial Hospital, vice-president of The Affiliates of University of California San Diego Healthcare and immediate past-president of the Center Stage Club of the La Jolla Playhouse.
